Mark Allen Shepherd
Mark Allen Shepherd is an American actor best known for playing Morn, Quark’s favorite customer at Quark’s Bar on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; the second spin-Off series in the family of the legendary Star Trek franchise. As the popularity of Morn became apparent Morn also appeared in the Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager/ Deep Space Nine crossover episodes. The legend of Morn evolved and grew interest with fans regardless of whether Morn spoke or not. The ultimate compliment to this was the backstory of Morn that became “Who Mourn’s For Morn” which not surprisingly was Emmy nominated for makeup. From Pilot episode to season seven finale and Morn spoke not one word on camera. Morn might just be the most famous non-speaking role in Star Trek history.
Mark is also an artist who the DS9 Art Department were excited to use Mark’s art on various sets of Deep Space Nine 1992 – 1999. Over 20 pieces were contracted and some appeared on camera on the walls Jake Sisko’s Quarters, Jadzia Dax, Kira Nerys, Dr Julian Bashir, Molly O’Brien and others. Marks art also appeared on the walls of the Star Fleet Conference Room in Star Trek: Borg interactive movie PC game and Shepherd also writes articles periodically for StarTrek.Com Mark is a graduate of Roger Williams College and studied 4 years more at the Disney school California Institute of the Arts.
