Kavita Maharaj
Kavita Maharaj is an internationally acclaimed fine artist. She has been drawing and creating pieces with acrylic, graphite, watercolour pencils, inks and markers for over 30 years. After selling her first piece at the age of 14, her talent was publicly recognized and Kavita has worked to enhance it ever since. Kavita graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in print making from Queen’s University. Her works have been presented in solo and group art shows in Kingston and Toronto, Ontario. She has also taught well received art workshops in Ontario and British Columbia.
Kavita has received worldwide praise for her painting series of the character Spock from the Star Trek franchise. As a lifelong fan, Kavita draws inspiration from Star Trek’s vision of equality and the noble characteristics of Spock and actor Leonard Nimoy. The series is officially licensed by CBS and has been praised by the Nimoy family. The works can be found in homes and galleries in Canada, the U.S., Australia, Finland, Scotland, England, Germany and Costa Rica. Kavita and her works have been featured on George Takei Presents, StarPodTrek and at the Neutral Zone Studios in Georgia. She was recently selected to produce the official artwork for the Nichelle Nichols Farewell Convention in 2020.
